History / Experience
Michael Burke has been a successful advisor to the Corporate, and Public Sector since 1985. His corporate clients include: Amcor Flexibles Asia - Pacific, Amcor Closures, Amcor Research and Technology, Metricon Homes, Qantas, Stanley Tools, A G Coombs Group, Newoak Ford, Draeger Medical, Peter Stevens Motorcycles, Kempe International, Skilled Group, and major players in the Victorian Surf and Food Processing Sector. He also has worked with many independent businesses, sporting clubs and associations.
Michael has extensive experience facilitating the development of industry clusters in Australia and has worked with a range of Industry Associations including: National Electrical Communications Association, Horticulture Australia Ltd, Ausveg, Housing Industry Association, and Victorian Automobile Chamber Of Commerce, Multi Media Victoria, Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology, Forest Products Association and various sporting clubs.
Michael is a rigorous strategic thinker and is known for providing innovative solutions to his clients. He brings a wealth of experience from globally competitive organisations like QANTAS and is a student of best practice models in the corporate sector.
After starting his working in the large corporate arena in the accounting industry at Price Waterhouse Coopers, Michael had the experience of turning his own business around. In 1990, Michael became a partner of a small accounting practice in Melbourne. The practice had no real strategy, poor communication amongst leaders and the team, and a dysfunctional systems and culture. By the time he had sold out in 2000, through Michael’s leadership and direction, the business had grown to a medium sized business with strong culture, great systems, highly profitable and debt free. Michaels owes this business turnaround to the power of the Mindshop tools and processes.
Corporate Strategy & Executive Mentoring
Specifically, Michael has worked with a number of organisations to assist them in aligned direction setting at senior level. First time clients are impressed with the structured approach Michael takes to setting the business direction, while allowing for flexibility if required.
Michael also mentors leaders in developing business plans and mentors the implementation to ensure the strategy is implemented.
Michael is a fully accredited and leading Mindshop facilitator and a member of the Institute of management Consultants.
He is also a fully qualified Chartered Accountant, and has been a lead facilitator in the Strategic Business Management Module of the Institute’s post graduate CA program.
